Absolutely outstanding. 40 yrs old and still has fruit, a hint of tannin and nice acidity. Way too easy to drink. Wish i had bought more from k&l at their library offering. Incredible.

Pnp. Lovely nose with sweet cherry, flower, menthol, earth and sous. Palate was fresh and balanced with sweet bramble fruit, rounded out by hint of soy, clay and iron. More burgundy than california. Tasted like an aged Beaune wine. Better than the 87 Calera I had. Amazing condition.

From 375 ... Cork was solid, but stained about 3/4s of its length. Opened and poured about 2 hours later. Clear red with tawny overtones in color. Restrained nose of red fruits and earth. Light bodied and a bright feel on the palate. Good cherry/berry flavor moving towards sweet caramel on the finish.
This was definitely past its prime, but was surprising good. It still tasted alive and the changing flavors came across as pleasing complexity rather than signs of being over the hill.

Blake Gray, 67 Martini Pinot, 67 Inglenook Pinot, 82 Calera Selleck: Wow - This was just delicious. Medium in weight with good minerality and sweetness of pinot noir. Both the aromas and palate are mature with good balance, on a great frame. While the lenght isn't exceptional one can't help but respect what this bottle of wine is offering after so long under cork.
