Forever thankful for the TN of the previous two tasters based on which I bought a bottle at an auction. When I drink older wines, they're usually from Bordeaux, so I had no idea what to expect here. Well, the bottle didn't disappoint me! Beautiful color, fruit still present, perfect acidity and lingering finish. In all, a beautiful wine at peak and I guess it could remain there for a little while. If you can find it, go for it!

Holding up well. Pulled randomly in the presence of the guy I bought this from almost 6 years ago (and didn't remember until I looked it up here). BBQ potato chips, plum, figs, roasted blackbeeries, cigar ash. Finishes with grittiness and there is even quite a bit of spice here. Really incredible for almost 40 years. Remarkable wine. Just kept getting better and better as it sat out. First rating 92 just kept going up.
In our cellar for over 35 years, the cork crumbled and we poured through a strainer. Color a very deep purple and the nose was musty. We did not anticipate what was to come. Still seemed a pretty young wine with plenty of tannins and no amber aging edges. Initially, the tannins were well separated from the fruit. It is a chewy wine, complex on the palate with violet floral overtones mixed with chocolate. After about fifteen minutes, the tannins began to overwhelm the fruit. Fifteen minutes more and the fruit came up to what became well-integrated tannins. It was great with our shrimp and Italian sausage dinner and sorry to say it is our last bottle.
