15.5% d'alcool. 87 pts

Moderate nose of pear and citrus with a note of anise/licorice. Medium bodied, citrus on the palate, hint of sweetness offset with medium+ acidity, more anise notes on the mid-length finish. No discernible oak. Very complex and interesting, but not my cup of tea. The body and acidity suggest it'll age a bit, but probably no more than another 2-3 years.

EYE: very clear golden straw. NOSE: BIG white flowers (honeysuckle), ripe pear and a small bit of anise as a backnote. PALATE: medium acidity upfront with citrus, anise stepped up for my mid-palate and the 15.5% ABV definitely stuck around for the long finish. OVERALL: a lot of complexity for a Verdelho, a "table wine" down under, but wish it was a bit more focused on the ABV.

This wine needs a direction. It is trying to be many things in a bottle, which for some may work, but not for me.
