Over the hill for sure. Alcohol, black pepper, and a touch of unripe tropical fruit on the nose and palate. Serious weight, low acid, and not as heavily oaked as I'd expected. On sale for $10, and simultaneously alluring and revolting.

General: Australia, McLaren Vale, Mollydooker --> well known for wines with high alcohol content.
Look: Light yellow with some green reflexions.
Smell: Floral Notes, pinapple, green pepper.
Taste: Dry, very alcoholic, low accidity.
Conclusion: Although technically ok, the wine has too much alcohol, is monotonic and is unbalanced. Moreover the price (approx. 18 EUR) is not reasonable. I prefer the reds from Mollydooker. Won't buy again.

The nose is not so bad but the palate is just awful.
Like a cheap vodka and vermouth cocktail that someone decided to treat with 300% new oak (although that might be overselling it); harsh pulp mill vanilla esters, astringent bitter herbal notes, very high alcohol, oily texture.
We could not finish the glass.
Poured some of this into a cream sauce before tasting it (just smelled to see it was not damaged) and the sauce turned out quite well so that's what keeping my score above 70.

Always a pleasure! May be too heavy for someone taste, but I like it.
