A Saturday at Linden (Linden Vineyards - Linden, VA): Rich nose of mixed berries, bramble, worn leather, and bitter cocoa. The palate is medium bodied and surprisingly linear and directed, with focused mixed berries and spice against savory tones of sous bois. There is lively acidity on the medium length finish, lifting flavors of dried red berries, pepper, bitter coffee, and spicy tobacco. The tannins are beginning to soften, and it is beginning to show signs of maturity. Drink. R&M88

Notes from day 2. Nice purple color. On nose there is blueberry, blackberry, ink, a little funk & herb, and brine. On the palate more blueberry, blackberry, purple paint, vegetal notes, with nice tannin on the back end. Long finish on this wine and there is nice polish and balance. Now this is a nice wine, great qpr, and much more of a tannic bruiser than the 06. Hold. 50+5+13+16+7

Lots of graphite and minerality in the nose. I also got a lot of brine as the wine opened up. Very soft, pleasant mouthfeel, but as the wine continued to breathe the alcohol actually became more noticeable and integrated with a tobacco-esque aroma.

(Linden Petit Verdot) #1; COLOR-dark; NOSE-smells like a cave; pickle juice & blackberry coming through as well; black currant & basil; TASTE-this is good; very dark purple paint flavors; very green & vegetal, but come w/ very dark blackberries; I like the fruit & polish; squid ink profile; Grape flavored Big League Chew on the finish; pickles & basil; an exceptional & elegant effort; GV-90+

Has aged well. Decanted for 20 min. Full plum and cherry mouth with nice tannin finish.
