Introduction

We spent a wonderful saturday at Linden, enjoying some excellent wines with local cheese, charcuterie, and fresh baked baguettes.

Flight 1 (4 Notes)

  • 2005 Linden Petit Verdot 88 Points

    USA, Virginia, Northern Virginia

Rich nose of mixed berries, bramble, worn leather, and bitter cocoa. The palate is medium bodied and surprisingly linear and directed, with focused mixed berries and spice against savory tones of sous bois. There is lively acidity on the medium length finish, lifting flavors of dried red berries, pepper, bitter coffee, and spicy tobacco. The tannins are beginning to soften, and it is beginning to show signs of maturity. Drink. R&M88

  • 2009 Linden Boisseau 90 Points

    USA, Virginia, Northern Virginia

Powerful nose of black/blue fruit compote, scorched earth, licorice, and savory roasted root vegetables. The palate is similarly rich, with ripe blueberries and char roasted tomatoes. The mid-palate is progressively more raspberry and red fruited, with arising game and spicy black pepper. The medium length finish features dried red berries, tart cranberry, and violet florals. This is an atypically big, full bodied wine for Linden, but nevertheless displays typical Linden balance. Drink or Hold. R&M90

  • 2006 Linden Hardscrabble 90 Points

    USA, Virginia, Northern Virginia

Great nose of spicy red currents, fresh blackberries, soil, dried herbs, and crushed red pepper. The palate is medium bodied and strikingly complex, melding gorgeous fresh cherries/cranberries and cassis with charred red peppers and beef broth. The persistent, harmonious finish carries a wonderful tension between sweet dried berry fruit and savory earth, rosemary, and tobacco. This is drinking well, but will continue to improve over the next several years. Drink or Hold. R&M90

  • 2005 Linden Vidal Late Harvest 91 Points

    USA, Virginia, Northern Virginia

Gorgeous, layered, and exceedingly complex aromas of dried apricots, candied citrus peel, white flowers, poached orchard fruit, and beeswax. The palate is wonderfully concentrated and filled with smokey peaches, tropical fruits, lavender, and honeysuckle. Fresh, lively acidity lifts finishing elements of dried tropical fruits, cinnamon, and ripe tangerine. This is one of the finest Late Harvest Vidal that we have tasted form Linden. Fantastic effort with plenty of life left. Drink or Hold. R&M91
