  • 2020 Felton Road Chardonnay Block 2

First go w the Felton Road B2 in this vintage (v20, 14% ABV) - appears slightly close-woven at first pour, clearly citric & quite rich in alcohol, opening up throughout bottle to citrus heaven w a tropical touch & go attitude. Straw-yellow, crystal-clear in appearance. Nose w deep scents of nectarine, lemon & grapefruit, ripe lime emerging w further air, marzipan & butter w a touch of wood. Mineral-driven, taut, m+-palate, peach & apricot adding to the flavour profile, barrel spice & lime-drenched, oily acidity. Hold for now or decant.

  • 2022 Filipa Pato Baga Bairrada Dinamica

Kick-off bottle for the 2024 Dia Internacional da Baga was Filipa Pato’s DNMC aka Dinâmica (v22, 12% ABV) - a very fine entry-level introduction to this grape w grape-specific expressions & the purity & ethereal vibe always at forefront chez Filipa. Beautiful medium ruby, cherry reflections, fully translucent in the glass. Open, intensive nose featuring deep & pure scents of cherries, raspberries, strawberries, black pepper & various dried herbs. Light-bodied, balsamic structure, glou-glou-stylad, fine mature fruit, decent, grippy finish!

  • 2021 Hirsch Vineyards Pinot Noir The Bohan-Dillon

New vintage of Jasmine Hirsch’s Bohan-Dillon (v21, 13% ABV), surely a pleasing, precise, seductive & quintessential expression of the Hirsch Way of making Pinot Noir. Medium ruby, fully translucent & shiny in the glass. It brims, yes brims, w typical Hirsch notes - wild raspberries, cherries, forest floor, peppery character - all in all superbly clean & advanced for such a young wine. Pleasantly sappy & soft palate, fine acidic structure, fruit-driven in a cool style, quite elegant yet linear, juicy, light finish! Ready to go!
