  • Contender f surprise of the year, this Madeira cuvée made by Azores-based António Maçanita in collaboration with local Madeiran lads (v22, 12.5% ABV, 100% Caracol, bottle no 2,166/4,733). Stunningly complex f first pour to ever-lingering close. Golden, shiny in the glass. Nose excels w smoke, salt, lemon, wildflowers not to say seashells & orchard fruits, toasted almonds. Weighty palate, viscious intensity, steely like a GDR sprinter, glamourous, textured close to chewy, honeyed w a v long, mineral-saline finish!
