Tasted by kgmoose2@gmail.com on 4/15/2022 & rated 90 points: Smooth with subtle notes of citrus and lemon (941 views)
Tasted by Pontifax on 9/6/2020 & rated 89 points: So...another Napa Sauv Blanc.
On nose : green pear and Honeydew melon.
On palate: follow through of above notes, with prominent oak , high alcohol ( 14.4%) , with a full body , expressing lemon , ginger and mineral notes , pleasant, but lacking the crispness, complexity and minerality I crave from old world white Bordeaux.....not my style...but it will have it's fans.....not an ager , due to low acidity. (1354 views)
Tasted by Marshmallowman on 5/14/2020 & rated 89 points: Good Sauvignon Blanc with crisp clean taste. (1291 views)
Tasted by Ca4816 on 9/24/2019 & rated 89 points: Great peppery/spice. Lasting linger (1461 views)
Tasted by rmcnees on 12/22/2018 & rated 90 points: Consistent with earlier tasting notes. Light straw colored, medium-light bodied, harmonious nicely balanced layers of subdued citrus, peach, pear and lychee fruit with a refreshing crisp clean, smooth acidity finish.

Tasted by wconnolly on 7/14/2018 & rated 88 points: Really tasty. Pale straw color. Light bodied. Peach, pear and some sweet lychee nut on the palate. Just a touch of acidity for balance. Subsequent vintages have more citrus and acidity but this was a nice change of pace. (1565 views)
Tasted by dclaggett on 6/11/2018 & rated 88 points: 14.4%abv. Higher alc, high rs sauv blanc. Pineapple, lemon, hay. Tart and juicy attack, green and citrus fruit, melon, finishes sweet. Just ‘ok’ for QPR. (1260 views)
Tasted by Chefofthewoods on 6/11/2018 & rated 90 points: Crisp, pleasant sauvignon blanc. A bit sharp initially but softens to slight creamy mouthfeel. Stores in fridge very well over a week+, great cooking wine too.

Was $11.50 after tax at wine sale, great QPR. (1295 views)
Tasted by Miceri on 4/29/2018 & rated 95 points: Hazy light yellow; green´grass, honey, wet stone; elegant attack, nice broad honey-like texture with a good leanness to it; lots of taste; a very good sauvignon blanc with body; clearly good value (1237 views)
Tasted by Kcornett on 4/16/2018 & rated 89 points: Nice citrus. Not overpowering though. (907 views)
Tasted by wine247365 on 4/7/2018 & rated 91 points: CL's Sauv Blanc never disappoints! Nice aromatics and Sancerre-like energy on the palate. Lemon, banana, guava, lime, cut grass. Cool it to drink at around 50 degrees. Good QPR. (948 views)
Tasted by Margaux Bro on 3/5/2018 & rated 92 points: One of my go-to napa Sauv blancs. Had with stone crab, and did not disappoint. Easily 92+ (1010 views)
Tasted by wconnolly on 2/21/2018 & rated 88 points: Pale straw color. Citrus and a bit of melon on the palate with a bit of acidity on the finish. If you like a more mellow Sauvignon blanc, drink the 2015. I prefer a brighter style so look for something a bit younger. Still a nice, afternoon porch wine. (903 views)
Tasted by RedRedMoreRed on 12/7/2017 & rated 85 points: Crisp with lots of fruit. (1284 views)
Tasted by wconnolly on 11/4/2017 & rated 90 points: Our favorite go-to summer cooler. Pale straw in color. Light bodied with lemon, grapefruit and just a surprising hint of sweetness on the back palate. Bright and refreshing. (1272 views)
Tasted by RedRedMoreRed on 10/21/2017 & rated 90 points: Crisp, light and very well balanced. Grassy notes on the nose, and nice lingering finish. A really well made Sauvignon Blanc. (1492 views)
Tasted by rickspicks on 10/1/2017 & rated 89 points: Very little of the grassy, tartness so typical of sauvignon blanc. It was there, but in the background, rather in the forefront. Kiwi, melon, grapefruit and citrus along with a touch of sweetness on the medium-bodied palate. Surprisingly soft, almost unctuous texture with rounded edges. Not a big sauvignon blanc fan, but I liked this wine. 89-90 (1383 views)
Tasted by travelme on 9/3/2017 & rated 88 points: Rockincabs nailed the notes. I loved it. My lone bottle. Enjoyed on a hot hot summer night. (1449 views)
Tasted by Critterbug on 8/12/2017 & rated 82 points: Full bodied wine. Touch of sweetness. (1460 views)
Tasted by RockinCabs on 8/1/2017 & rated 88 points: Nice sauv blanc that enters with freshly cut honeydew melon, meyer lemon and sweet grass notes. Viscous on the palate, and almost showing cantaloupe notes. Alc is apparent at times in the finish. Overall this is very good, but does not quite move to the upper echelon of CA Sauv Blanc for me. (1583 views)
Tasted by henrik33 on 7/16/2017 & rated 90 points: Such a great sauv. Lemon, grapefruit and mango notes (1409 views)
Tasted by Tahlequahdave1972 on 7/13/2017 & rated 91 points: As sauvignon blancs go, this is probably my new favorite from California. Nose of citrus, mango, pineapple and a touch of grapefruit. Flavors follow the nose, with some "sweetness" and minerality and a pretty big mouthfeel. Acidic, yes, but the finish is consistent with what I've come to expect in a really good SB and it punctuates the overall complexity of this wine. Best served chilled but not refrigerator cold to allow the wine to show its' stuff. (1120 views)
Tasted by wconnolly on 6/24/2017 & rated 90 points: Terrific as usual. Pale straw color. Lots of citrus; grapefruit, lemon and a hint of sweetness on the palate. A touch pricey for a light summer wine but a nice treat. (1237 views)
Tasted by La Cave d'Argent on 6/6/2017 & rated 91 points: This light-to-medium yellow wine is a blend of 82% Sauvignon Blanc, 14% Sémillon, 3% Sauvignon Vert, and 1% Muscat Canelli. More than half was fernented in French barrels, most of which were neutral. Highly aromatic, it flaunts scents of kiwi, lychee, mango and citrus, adding a whiff of grassiness. Light-bodied, freshly acidic, seamlessly alcoholic (14.4%) and with flavors mirroring the nose, it has good mid-palate density and finishes long. A bit more fruit-forward than its 2014 sibling, this is another quality offering from a truly quality producer. Enjoy it over the next couple of years. Drink now-2019. (1333 views)
Tasted by RockyII on 5/29/2017 & rated 84 points: Light straw in color. Nose of grapefruit, peach, pear and grass. Flavors are muted together and buttery. Medium bodied with a significant amount of acidity and tartness. Too much acidity and tartness. Maybe needs to mellow a year? Just ok. (1204 views)

Sauvignon Blanc

Varietal Character

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
