Tasted by Zimman2 on 11/29/2014 & rated 92 points: Great when released. Left this bottle in the cellar too long, and it was a funky shadow of its former self. If you still have any, drink up! (2106 views)
Tasted by ewasowicz on 6/7/2011 & rated 91 points: The wine looks Straw colored.
The legs are Slow.
It smells like and Lemon and grass
It has a fresh lemon and grapefruit taste that is not over powering with light hints of oak wood.
The body is Light.
The wine is textured Bright.
The wine finishes Short. (3647 views)
Tasted by Muskatd on 2/26/2011 & rated 89 points: Awesome value (3915 views)
Tasted by winefixit on 12/24/2010 & rated 90 points: went over very well with robin (3975 views)
Tasted by KeithSurg on 12/2/2010 & rated 91 points: Nose of cut grass, with grapefruit and lavendar on the palate. Finish gets much longer and richer as the wine warms out of the fridge. (3885 views)
Tasted by jlimberg on 9/23/2010 & rated 88 points: Clear, star bright, pale straw color with medium concentration and viscocity. NOSE: grapefruit, lemon, grassy, honeysuckle, pear, chive, soapstone; PALATE: dry. Clean palate of grapefruit, pear, soapstone, fresh white flower. ASSESSMENT: alcohol 14.5%, acid: high, finish: medium, complexity: medium: Nice nose but not a ton going on here on the palate. Acid level is definitely high. I've enjoyed the 2008 vintage more than this. (2728 views)
Tasted by ajaffee on 2/26/2010 & rated 89 points: Still enjoyable, but just past its prime. (2456 views)
Tasted by sterin on 1/30/2010 & rated 90 points: Grapfruit and other citrus notes. Pretty well balanced...maybe a hair too much citrus. I tasted the 2008 at the winery a few weeks ago which showed better than the 2007. (2270 views)
Tasted by terroir on 12/13/2009 & rated 89 points: Very nice Sav.Blanc, minerals, ripe citrus, and soe grapefruit.Overall good but not in the top category of SB's. (2660 views)
Tasted by dhammer53 on 11/27/2009 & rated 89 points: One taste and my wife said 'Wow, this is delicious'. A little sweetness on tasting, along with minerals. Nice nose. Just an easy drinking, crowd pleasing wine on Thanksgiving. (3057 views)
Tasted by rmcnees on 11/1/2009 & rated 90 points: Nicely balanced acidity, subtle oak, citrus and remarkable peach fruit flavor that turns to mango and hint of passion fruit and tangerine on the finish. Fabulous complement to lobster with a dash of lemon butter. starter. First tasted at the winery - got some at home - a staple white for the cellar. (2607 views)
Tasted by windypinot on 10/18/2009 & rated 89 points: Grassier than expected for a Cali SB; nice match with oysters; solid wine, but not worth the extra few $ over several NZ SB (Kim Crawford in particular) (2793 views)
Tasted by cohen33 on 9/12/2009: fine, good for price (2651 views)
Tasted by EMichels on 8/17/2009: Good richness; Nice full round flavor; Doesn't jump out but good none-the-less (2738 views)
Tasted by Cheryl on 7/22/2009: Summer Sauvignon Blanc Tasting (Il Corso, NYC): No. Tasted like fermented apple juice and alcohol. (3219 views)
Tasted by dhammer53 on 7/15/2009 & rated 90 points: Great wine for the price. Just a little sweet, without overdoing it. Some minerals. Two people at dinner didn't like it; and two thought it was wine of the night. Go figure.
At $20, try it and decide for yourself. This was a wine dinner (8) with the monthly Wednesday group. (3314 views)
Tasted by wicozani on 6/27/2009 & rated 90 points: This blew me away a few nights ago in a wine bar in Bethesda on its own when I first arrived. Tonight, followed up a Cakebread Cellars sauvignon blanc, and may have suffered for this. Distinctly different from the Cakebread, with less tropical character and more in-your-face characteristics and persistence. Lasted a great deal on the palate, which is also noted a few nights ago. Very nice and indeed bested the Cakebread version on this night, served with orange roughy with a tri-color bell pepper, garlic, jalapeno pepper, butter and sauvignon blanc sauce, which incidentaly was superb! (2909 views)
Tasted by Blue Shorts on 5/27/2009 & rated 92 points: Same notes as before. This is a very enjoyable SB. (3086 views)
Tasted by carolynv on 5/24/2009: lovely (3104 views)
Tasted by godx on 5/10/2009 & rated 87 points: Opened and served right away. Pale straw colour, clear. Nose of oak, butter and citrus. Similar flavours. Oaky notes on the finish. Medium to high acidity, medium body. Drink now. Good. (3011 views)
Tasted by whits on 4/25/2009 & rated 90 points: lovely nose expressing citrus and grassy aromas, crisp and refreshing on the palate, with pear and pineapple, light, with wood and creamy orange on the finish, very good, very balanced, paired with lemon butter cream sauce and chicken pasta (3061 views)
Tasted by godx on 3/21/2009 & rated 89 points: Tasted at winery – no formal note taken. Lychee and light citrus. Drink now. Very good. (3111 views)
Tasted by wineaux2 on 3/14/2009 & rated 91 points: The citrus notes and tropical fruit flavors meld beautifully together to form a crisp and refreshing wine. Well made indeed. (3101 views)
Tasted by L_McNichol on 3/11/2009 & rated 90 points: Wonderful SB w/ citrus notes that had us smacking our lips. It was delicious w/ a traditional baked ham dinner (no glaze on the ham), roasted potatoes and salad. This was our last of 3 that we purchased directly from the vineyard & we must get more as a staple to our SB inventory. (3080 views)
Tasted by joraesque on 3/5/2009 & rated 85 points: A light Sauvignon Blanc. Decent, but nothing special... (2995 views)

Varietal Character

USA

American wine has been produced since the 1500s, with the first widespread production beginning in New Mexico in 1628. Today, wine production is undertaken in all fifty states, with California producing 84% of all U.S. wine. The continent of North America is home to several native species of grape, including Vitis labrusca, Vitis riparia, Vitis rotundifolia, and Vitis vulpina, but the wine-making industry is based almost entirely on the cultivation of the European Vitis vinifera, which was introduced by European settlers. With more than 1,100,000 acres (4,500 km2) under vine, the United States is the fourth-largest wine producing country in the world, after Italy, Spain, and France.

California

2021 vintage: "Unlike almost all other areas of the state, the Russian River Valley had higher than normal crops in 2021, which has made for a wine of greater generosity and fruit forwardness than some of its stablemates." - Morgan Twain-Peterson
