  It is always a treat to open a wine with a bit of age on it and I was looking forward to seeing how this wine was doing.
  This wine was a bit more evolved than I had hoped for and also had the look and feel of an Auslese, rather than a Kabinett. The fruit was soft and showed a waxy honey note that seemed to envelop layers of spiced apples. It was quite pleasant, but lacked some zip.
  The pieces seemed to be there, but maybe I caught it in an awkward place or there was some questionable storage along the way.
  Wine is an ever-changing thing that has its own life and you never know exactly what is inside the bottle until you open it.
