Community Tasting Notes (8) Avg Score: 90.2 points

  • Hot on the nose (says 14.5% abv but I bet it’s higher) with stewed fruit. Deep rich color. Flabby with not much precision. Decanted and tasted at cellar temp but just not much there. A bit overripe and didn't improve much over the course of 60 minutes in decanter. Big dissapointment.

  • PnP and let sit in the glass for about 20 minutes. Color is garnet to purple fading to a lighter purple at the edge. Significant legs in the glass. Cherry, cranberry, tobacco, menthol, flowers, forest floor and a bit of vanilla aromas and flavors. Drinking with and after dinner of rabbit stew, broccoli, truffle gouda and crackers. Spiciness in wine clashed a bit with pepper in the stew and the crackers. Medium acidity, medium+ tannin leaves a slightly mouth-drying perception. The wine comes across as a bit hot with and after the meal.

  • PnP and let sit for 5-10 minutes. Color is garnet fading to a hint of orange at the edge. Aromas of savory herbs, menthol, flowers, forest floor, dried cherry and plum, and with some coaxing some brighter cherry. On the palate fruit and savory notes mix with acidity and tannin to leave a slightly warm, mouthwatering finish. There is a slight astringent quality mid-taste 10-20 minutes after opening. Quite good. Drinking before dinner with some cheese and crackers, with and after dinner of grilled tuna, spring green salad and reheated roasted vegetables. After about 30-40 minutes more of the fruit aromas are coming out of the wine with a glass refill. On the palate the fruit and savory flavors are balanced and the astringent note has faded into the deep background. There is definite warmth in the finish and moderate legs in the glass.

  • plenty of red fruit - cherry, cranberry and strawberry - this is open for business with solid acidity on the backend.

  • Light brick color. Mouthfeel a bit "darker" than the indicated color, with some tobacco and leather in addition to well developed fruit. Nicely balanced finish. I think this will continue to improve with additional age.
