HWS Bordeaux 2009 vs 2010 (By me): Beautiful bouquet with dark berries and beautiful oak and cedar. On the palate juicy dark berries, some earth, friendly and juicy acidity and round tannin. A mouth full and a lot of everything and already quite open for business. Beautiful wine in its early maturity stage.

I mean....it's good. That's about the best thing to say about this wine. I know it's supposed to be the "forgotten second growth", so I'm not expecting a Pichon or a Leoville or a Palmer (a 3rd growth, I know...), but this is drinking at the level of a middling Cru Bourgeois.

Nose of rose petals violets lavender and plum. Silky lifted and mid-window. Despite the aforementioned this is simply a very nice wine in a good place and lacks the wow factor and energy of more recent vintages.

Dense, dense red colour. Tight, subdued nose - took hmm hour or so to open. Green pepper, pencil and dark fruit nose. Smooth mouthfeel. Similar flavours to the nose along with a touch of aniseed. Medium to long finish. Enjoyable but will probably benefit from more time.

Still tastes young. Probably has at least 5 more years. Clean delicious tannic. And no hang over at all! Drunk with James & Martin
