  • From magnum sitting in the cellar for seven years at 60 degrees and was a charity auction purchase for $72. Nose of black berry, black cherry, boysenberry, and mocha, same on the palate, big body, at it's peak in this format, enjoyed over three nights, very tasty, elegant for a Zinfandel, the Jackass Vineyard fruit in this wine makes it a joy to drink, mouth filling and mouth watering fruit, paired well with roasted chicken, the longer in the glass the more floral notes it showed, and a long, flavorful finish.

  • This was a leaker magnum, opened and enjoyed 2 glasses and placed in the refrigerator to reduce oxidation. Nose of black cherry fruit, touch of plum, and also blackberry, the old nose from the first night had disappeared, on the palate, big body, the fruit is tasty and rich, again the oxidation has disappeared, mouth filling richness, elegant and delicious tasting, paired with BBQ Spare Ribs, the fruit is from the famed Jackass Vineyard and certainly shows its pedigree tonight, will remember this leaking magnum for a long time to come, long, lovely finish.

  • This was a leaker magnum discovered in my cellar today which gave me the excuse to open it. Nose of dark cherry fruit, touch of plum, and allspice, same on the palate, fruit is tasty but slightly oxidized, will probably finish this bottle tonight, big body, and a long, flavorful finish.

  • Didn't know what to expect with '98 given it's a little over 10 old. A lot of convential wisdom suggests best drink a zin a lot sooner than this. Well, this drank line any good fine aged wine. Yes, fruit had moderated with a slight touch towards dried fruit characteristics, however, still had great zin character, and was quite delicious, such that it was quite clear why this was always considered a very good wine. I wish we had more. One thing is for certain, I will try to age more Zin now that I've had this experience.

(Martinelli Guiseppe & Louisa Zinfandel) My first Martinelli Zin, and my last. I just do not like this style of wine. Nose of jalapeno spice, cocoa powder, jammy blackberries. Definetly some residual sugare in this wine as the palate is sweet with gobs anf gobs of just over the top jammy black and blue fruits. Well made wine if this is the style you like. I don't at all
