  • Lovely nose of earth, plum, touch of cedar and smoke, more of the same on he palate, lovely glass of deep re/plum color wine, medium body, mouth filling, tasty, smooth, and rich, long finish, past its peak but what a great zinfandel!!!!

  • Time to relax and have some chicken and roast beef sandwiches for dinner with my favorite wine-Zinfandel. I am already looking forward to ZAP in January, 2014. Nose of sweet black cherry fruit with hints of plum, spice, and blackberry, more of the same on the palate, very tasty, mouth filling and delicious fruit forward wine, medium/big body and medium almost breath mint finish. Enjoyed this wine last night and tonight!! This was a great vintage and a great Zinfandel.

  • 92-94. Remarkably young still, bright, jammy fruit, with stewed fruit characteristics, medium long finish. Well balanced without the heat that some California Zins show so prominently.

  • A perfumed nose of berries and rich, spicy minerality, this has excellent balance and quiet harmony – an amazing statement given it has 15.5% alcohol. This combines dark and sweet, blackberry and elderberry fruit with plums and prunes, being sweet but not too sweet, thick but not cloying. A very impressive wine.

  • First of all, almost every note prior to this one says to drink up soon… I would respectfully disagree, and say that in fact this wine is just now hitting its stride, not in 2005. This is more like port than it is most red wines that I usually open – but nonetheless, this is impressive juice. It has excellent balance and complexity, which is amazing given how much fruit load this has. You really feel like you have fallen into a vat of black cherry fruit – wow. The analogy to Amorone is a good one, but this is fleshier than any Amorone that I have had. This won’t make me give up my Burgundies, but I am impressed.
