Pop 'n pour. On the nose, a very off-putting varnish-like aroma. Fortunately, on the palate, this was not there. Interesting, that this showed no biting alcohol, given the 16.9% so prominently displayed on the front of the bottle. This was port-like with very stewed fruit, but very focused and silky on the palate. Too ripe to show any Zin character. Weird wine. I'm not sure I understand the attraction to this style -- I don't find it at all enjoyable. Not going to score this, but if I did, I'd have a hard time even giving it 80 points.

Decanted for three hours; minimal sediment. Pretty, clear, and deep ruby red color. Lovely nose of blueberries and other dark fruit. Rich, full-bodied, mouth-filling, and almost jammy dark fruit on the palate. Given the 16.9% alcohol, heat is not an issue. The finish is quite long and pleasing. Will probably drink well for a few more years. At my $38 price at auction, a good QPR. Overall, Giuseppe & Louisa would probably be quite proud.

My last of these and just in time. This is starting to fall apart. It's always been a fairly simple wine, but good if you like a fruit bomb every now and then

Decanted one hour. Candied, bright red cherries finishing some noticeable heat at 16.7 on the alcohol meter.
