golden color. very expressive nose of hazelnuts, and layer with stonefruits. on palate, medium to heavy body, good length of nuts, mineral and balanced acidity. it was a tab sweet when it first opened, and the sweetness faded away and gave more balanced profile on palate. very enjoy white with good depth.

35% new oak and it's evolving nicely...quite young. Vanilla as all the oak influence is not eaten yet. Then a mushroom and hazelnut nose; very expressive (lots of lees stirring). Rich weight and a strong spine carries front to back palate. A very balanced and lot finishing wine - well done.

This Chard is past its prime. Most likely due to the warm 2004 harvest that resulted in low acidity. It is becoming heavy on the palate and does not have any vibrancy. We tasted the 2007 right after and that is what a Freeman chard should be. It had excellent fruit, minerality, and a unfolding finish with plenty of back end acidity. I think this will age much better.

Bottle was opened at Rob's for a Wed. night dinner. The aromatics showed green apple, and notes of typical California Chard. What gets interesting is the mid-palate was rounded and fairly smooth. Showed some butter oak at the beginning of the bottle, and developed into a more old-world style wine later, becoming more subtle and balanced. Not a powerful wine (which is how I like my Chard) that lingers around for a while. The finish is good. Decent wine.

Ed Kurtzman Dinner - His Favs and His (Casa Murray): Oak shows on the nose along with an odd sulfur like aroma. Fat, long and sweet. Not my cup of tea but I imagine its pretty popular.
