Needed a little time to open up, but still pleasant. Little to no tannins left, but structure is still basically there. If you still have any, open for 30 minutes and consume now.

drank at the California Winemakers OL in August. Not at all what I would expect from a Melka wine. It didn't give up much of anything. I couldn't detect any fruit. Rather uptight and disappointing.

Deep color, over ripe fruit, on its way down hill. Too late to wait on this.

This wine is in the style of a st. Estephe. Restrained fruit, assertive tannins (even after 13 years). Enjoyable, but more of a food wine.

Cali Winemakers Offline - Barrett, Browne, Kurtzman, Melka and Masyczek (Brentwood, CA): Notes of cedar, graham crackers, wet soil, and tobacco. A bit austere on the palate.
