KevinACohn has already offered a detailed review of this wine, to which I will only add this brief observation: in general, we rarely have the patience (or the space, or the resources) to wait and see if wine will age gracefully. Many white wines of the Loire Valley - Vouvray in particular - have the ability to remain fresh after 20-30-40 years. Our experience with CA whites is now all too brief, but this bottle showed us, perhaps, what might be possible. It was a wonderful experience. Thank you Mike Grgich, who signed the bottle after a private tasting at Grgich, Napa. Rated 2 on a scale of -1 to 3.

Time has been extremely kind to this bottle. Tasted a day later from IJC's bottle, the multidimensional bouquet showed lime zest, lemon curd, chalk, hints of petrol, and subdued tropical fruits. On the nose this could easily be confused for a Riesling; your first guess certainly wouldn't be an 8-year old sauvignon blanc from California. Advanced in aroma but not in fruit, this drank way above its price point, and above expectations. Rated 2 on a scale of -1 to 3.

Crisp but also rich with some depth of fruit. Drank over 3 days vacuum sealed and it held up.

Green apple, lemon curd, creme brulee and a hint of nutmeg. Not as smooth of a finish as it used to have. Fruit has faded a bit.
