Blind Pinot Noir Tasting and Lunch (San Francisco): Light ruby. Beautiful fruit/green aromatic mix. Less stemmy than the 2019. Medium weight, nice sense of richness. Pungent fruit uplifted by green tones. More accessible and flowing than the 2019, but still quite tannic with a good dose of finishing soil. Excellent.

Tasted with a few other New Zealand, California and Oregon pinots. With relatively complex aromas of red cherry and strawberry it has all the profiles of New World Pinot in a good sense. It is balanced and easy to drink pinot, but maybe too easy. I do favor a delicate style pinot over a dark and powerful one but this seems to me doesn't live up to its reputation. I was expecting more complexity and layers. (FYI, other pinots we had compared with this one were 2018 Foxen Block 8 Pinot Noir, 2017 Flaneur La Belle Promenade Pinot Noir, and 2016 Dry River Martinborough, all of which stood out with great surprise.)

perfumed and elegant, red/dark cherry, sweet smell, rose and violet floral smell, some gentle and integrated herbal and spices, consistent in mouth, smooth texture, m+ bodied, fine grained tannins. it's gentle on surface but a lot of strength and power underneath. enjoyable now, its long running in glass shows promising potentials.
Ap 5/5, Ar 14/15, Palate 17/20, Overall 5+3/10 Total 94+/100

Not sure I understand the 96 and 98pt scores on this one... i think the herbal and mushroom notes are too much for me.

Pleasant and easy drinking, with notes of strawberry and earth.
