Deep saturated ruby. Bursting with black fruit, flowers, and herbs. Medium weight, gorgeous suave texture with deep soil base. Vivid, ripe blackberry and blueberry, licorice, fine acidity, and round unobtrusive tannins. I have been critical of this cuvée before, but this is as good an example as I’ve had. This is the third 2020 Mugnier wine I’ve tried, and the depth and volume of fruit in all of them have been breathtaking. No need to decant during this fruit forward stage.

Half bottle. Opened and poured. First some char, high toned green, and even some cheese rind before black and dark cherry fruit started to come to the forefront. Medium weight that became more airy as it went-still, this was muscular and somewhat burly for Chambolle. Ripe fruit, excellent acidity, late soil, licorice, and moderate remaining tannin. Even from a small format, it is not fully mature. Very good effort and fine for the vintage, but it is not nearly as elegant or complex as the best Mugneret wines.

2017 base disgorged in February, 2022. Pale and initially frothy. Yeast and hay later joined by orange peel aromas. Lactic aspect as well. Crisp, dry, mineral, medium bodied. Excellent and it kept on improving as it warmed and got more air.

6/1/2020 4:51:00 PM - On day two at 60 degrees F storage, this wine ( Folliard '14 Cote du Puy) did come out, displaying copious fruit. Should have rated it higher!
5/31/2020 1:00:00 PM - Valid criticism. I must admit to liking Bojo ripe,. and yes I do like the '15 vintage. Have not tried a more recent vintage. Interestingly, my criticism of most California wines is that they are too ripe for my taste when compared to old world examples. Seems inconsistent with my preferences in Beaujolais. Thanks!
2/5/2020 10:22:00 AM - My dear friend is a DeLaCoudray and is related to the owners of this vineyard. His fathers and his dream is to get a bottle and I would love to be able to assist. Do you know of where i can acquire any? My search has produced zero results over the last 4 months. Thank you for your time.
3/10/2016 4:34:00 AM - drwine2001, No problem re the Laguiche. I make that same mistake too often as well. I don't know how you got your Paulee TNs into CT so quickly. I am barely half way through my 300 TNs.
10/14/2013 6:19:00 AM - Hello drwine2001, Your profile pictures looks like a stairway to Bourgogne heaven. I certainly hope my path to the next life is so spectacularly adorned. Cheers!
9/12/2013 9:58:00 AM - Regarding the '10 Tournelle Trousseau, I salute you for having a feel for the Troussaeu showing more body than the Ploussard, something I read in your note after posting mine. I try to not look at other notes until I've published. Cheers.
