Stunningly good - really reaching its peak. Given summer heat I had to cool it slightly but otherwise PnP. Starting to get lighter coloured but no bricking. Savoury notes and fruit on both nose and palate. Tertiary characteristics coming through but still plenty of fruit. Really in a great place right now.

Stunning at 15 years of age. Beautiful, smooth, silky wine. Freeze drived strawberry nose, with a sweet lift. Stunning integration of fruit and oak. Quite a subtle wine, but with fabulous balance and length. We were going to pair this with slow roast lamb, but it tasted so very good on its own that we decided to have it before dinner. Simply fabulous!

Ata Rangi Pinot Noir 2008 is a beautiful example of Martinborough Pinot Noir. It has a pale purple color and is still looking vibrant under screwcap. On the nose, this wine exhibits enticing aromas of red fruits, vanilla, and mushroom. I found that it needed some time to open up, at least 20 minutes, and would recommend decanting.
The palate is wide and explosive, with cherry and strawberry fruit flavors dominating. The wine has a pleasing middle and long finish, with more complex tertiary elements emerging such as leather and cedar. While this Pinot Noir is not past its prime, I wouldn't recommend aging it for too much longer.
Overall, Ata Rangi Pinot Noir 2008 is an exceptional wine, scoring 93 points in my book. It's definitely worth seeking out for Pinot Noir enthusiasts and lovers of New Zealand wines.

Decanted 45 minutes. Subdued nose but this was singing on the palate. Lush, with resiny cedar notes, fragrant red fruit mid-palate, very fine tannins and a long, sweet tinged final. Medium body.
Heavier than I recall and very much alive and kicking after 14 years. Fantastic Pinot and worth seeking out.
