So I bought a cellar; 11/12/2022-12/31/2030: Opened this one after getting all the wines in the new wine closet, that came with the wines. The CT notes indicated that this one was still in a good spot. I agree, though it is at the end of a good spot. Upon opening, there was an ever-so-slight cardboard smell/flavor, that blew off quickly, revealing stewed red fruits. The color was still there, with only slight bricking. I loved the 13.5% alcohol, was nice to have a CA cab blend at that level. The red fruit actually opened up with air, and the wine seemed a bit younger about 30-45 minutes after opening, and held there for about 2 hours. Hours 3 and 4 though, was too much air, and became more cooked/stewed fruits. Lots of sediment, and did not decant. Good wine and fun experience. This one was not my wife's cup of tea.

Quite an aromatic nose, lots of currant and raspberry. Hints of violets and chicory. Smells pretty serious. Full bodied, and firmly structured with tannins that have settled into a nice place. There is a very positive marriage between the fruit and oak that builds into a lingering finish of coffee and raspberry chocolate torte. Tasty.
