Very different style from Tyrell's Vat1 Semillon.... On nose: toasted brioche, vanilla/ oak, and ripe canteloupe melon. On palate: all above flavours firing in unison....in addition to notes of white pepper, Seville orange rind, roasted almonds, and a note of barley sugar....all displayed on an elegant , fullish body, with present but restrained acidity. After a 1 hour decant, the balance and freshness of this 8 year old wine , is a pleasing accompaniment to herbed roast chicken, roast potatoes and braised cabbage/ carrot medley....good value at $27.00 in Vancouver...my wine merchant has 3 more bottles....but he will no longer have them tomorrow!😎

100% Semillon (Madeira Clone) from the Rowland Flat, Kalimna & Seppeltsfield sub-districts in Barossa Valley. Manual harvest. Gently whole bunch pressed into vats to settle for 24 hrs. Younger blocks fermented in tanks, older ones in seasoned French barriques. Natural malolactic. 14% Abv. Founding Winemaker (1994): Dave Powell (left in 2013) Proprietor: Pete Kight (since 2008) Chief Winemaker: Ian Hongell
A(ccuray)=2: Pale lemon/straw. Pure ripe varietal. B(alance)=3: Modulated components with firm structure. C(omplexity)=2: Citrus, peach, nuts. D(epth)=1: Round mouthfeel. Average length and finish.
Wine Tally Score [2,3,2,1]= 8/10
Perfect acidity as pure varietal.

A bit more restrained version typical from Torbreck The classic pineapple flavors are met by green melons, hay, dry lemon / key lime, and stone fruits and minerality . A touch of additional dryness and astringency. Will please fans of Torbreck for its familiarity, but will leave most fans a bit disappointed with its lack of ripeness , complexity & concentration. Drink till 2022

Pale; lime leaves, smoky; rasping acidity, weighty, highly spiced; plenty of oomph on finish. Drink now & next 5 years+. Very long indeed.
