(Viader Petit Verdot "V," Napa Valley) This exclusive blend of 64% Petit Verdot, 16% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 20% Cabernet Franc originates on the vertically planted slopes of the Viader Estate, at 1,200 feet on Howell Mountain. The rocky terrain of the organically farmed, northwest-exposed vineyard limits yields and creates a wine of great intensity and structure. “V” highlights the sophistication of Petit Verdot, a common blending grape that is rarely seen as a dominant varietal. Gang of 4 in Covid19 times; USA (@ RW): Beautiful bouquet with toast, pepper and smoke. On the palate juicy red and dark berries, pepper, laurel and fireworks as well as very mature fruits, Delicious acidity and a great length. More sweetness than the previous wine.

Full bodied wine which went great with burgers . Fruit forward and good feel in the mouth. Still young.

Better than the 04 Troplong Mondont it was drunk with, with deeper fruit. Misses the finesse though if the Proprietary wine, and while it has good black fruit intensity, its maybe a tad heavy. Longish finish and went well with some roast pork and mash.

Large scaled wine with black cherry, blackberry, tar and graphite. An herbal streak adds complexity and overall it is both complex and pleasurable, however, with clamping tannins on the back end. Will like to revisit in another 5 years.
