Decanted from the fridge and warmed up over dinner. Wow. Definitely the biggest Chardonnay I’ve ever had. Lovely golden colour. Intense nose of treacle, concentrated pineapple and toffee apple. On the palate a deep intensity with floral honey, like a blueberry honey, coating the mouth. A salted caramel streak runs through, almost hinting at minerality before being consumed by hedonistic fruit. Mesmerising by itself but a great match with food. It’s such a big wine it stands up to pretty much anything, even spicy food. A big wine from a big vintage, I think this will live for quite a while.

Rich and powerful tropical fruit bomb but very well made. Not really my style of Chardonnay (preferring them to be more laser focused and mineral laden) but this was nevertheless a delightful pairing with our Christmas Day crab boil! Fans of this style would swoon.

Rich, golden color. Lifted aromatics of tropical fruits (mango, apple and coconut), vanilla and yeast. Round and rich on the palate, with tropical fruits, spice and vanilla dominant. Sweet, long finish. Excellent for the style.

Prior notes still obtain: well-made, classic Cali Chard with multiple layers of aromas and flavors. Best in class!

Courtesy of R&D. Aromas of pear and mineral; really nice layers of fruit. Deft oak, with flavors of apple, mineral and toasted coconut.
