  Drank at CKH for D's 65th birthday. No decant as I was concerned the wine would fade (I was mistaken). Very dark color, no apparent signs of age in the glass. Nose of black fruit, cedar. tobacco leaves. Medium body with solid acidity. At first, the wine seemed a bit tired, pruny, & lacking fruit. However, as it warmed in the glass, the wine consistently improved showing plenty of black and red fruit, with cassis, dried figs, cedar, some lead pencil shavings and smoky tobacco. Excellent concentration and complexity. Delicate and elegant, though with a somewhat lush mouthfeel, the wine really came into its own and was just delish. Finish was soft, with very silky smooth tannins, though not as long as I'd have expected. Excellent!

  drank almost 2½ hours after decanting. Nice ripe fruits, some smoke and grilled meats. Drinking well.

  Wine is in fantastic shape. Not many tannins and the fruit stood out. Even became smoother over the evening with food. Had Bucatini Pasta with roasted tomatoes and Burrata cheese on top. Fantastic pairing and the wine was really singing! Cedar smelling and the old Garnett look to it. Wish I had more bottles of this vintage! Many years left.

  Aperto 3 e mezzo ore prima di servirlo. Naso veramente impressionante, profondo ed articolato, cui oltre 20 anni di bottiglia non hanno tolto freschezza giovanile, ma hanno come alleggerito e raffinato l’insieme, facendo emergere una complessità ulteriore in un vino che già era notevole. Prugna mora, mirtillo e ribes, cuoio, cacao, caffè, bosco, tutto fragrante e croccante, maturo e goloso, per nulla decadente né troppo opulento. Al palato un velluto con una grande potenza sempre sotto controllo, senza strappi, senza asperità. Finale molto lungo. Davvero in una fase eccellente della sua parabola.
