Antinori Solaia Vertical with Luigi Fioretti (Handford Wines, London): Cab sauv/ Cab Franc blend, Limousin barrels.24 months in new oak (longest ever). Still an experimental wine, from an avg vintage. Some bricking, but clarity in colour. Floral on the nose, light earth, light red fruits. Quite a bit of freshness here , juicy wine, very alive and with good life ahead. The nose is slightly better that the palate at this stage. Could use some more length. We question whether this wine will improve from now on. 91-93

Healthy color with a hint of browning. Cinnamon cedar nose initially - smells very Cabernet-Bordeaux-like. Minerals. Sweet attack with red and black fruits that resolve into cherry. Forest floor and possibly some eucalyptus. Fades in the glass rather quickly. 60% Cabernet Sauvignon.

Fully mature. Not much fruit, but fully balanced and pleasing.
