Opened by Dan at an offline. One of my favorite Napa producers. I previously had the 1991, 2001, 2005 and 2009 vintages (often multiple times). This is the first time I have rated a Pride Cab below 90 points. Crimson color with some bricking around the edges. It seems like a lot of the fruit has faded in this wine leaving an earthy and rather old world feel which is not a bad thing. However the suppleness and round texture i often find in a Pride s not there. Notes of metallic fruit and crushed grape skins. 89 points.

Courtesy of Dan. It's been a long while since I have had one of these so this was a treat and made me glad that I still have some from the early 2000s in the cellar somewhere. This still shows a deep color with no bricking. Plum and dark berry fruit notes. Much of the same on the palate. Still a full-bodied wine, but mature and drinking nicely.

Outstanding. Very bright and lush fruit. Great Tanins still structured even after 22 years. Very enjoyable. Wish I had a second bottle to save for later!

From a magnum that was brought by my cousin Charles to his brothers house and opened around 2 hours before dinner and then decanted. Dark fruit on the nose, the palate was dark berries, dark plums, charred meat and tobacco. The finish was full and dominated by earth and tobacco. Really enjoyable.

Dinner with Beth Novak Milliken, Spottswoode Estate (The Library, Crown Wine Cellars, Hong Kong): Served blind amongst 13 mainly Spottswoode Cabernet Sauvignons. Older, duskier colour....although still bright. Attractive nose of pencil lead. Palate is good but "OK" good in the preceding company. May be too young. Quite heady. It mellowed with time in the glass but was rather monotone compared to most of the other wines.....not really in the same league.
