Double decanted and allowed to breathe for an hour. Lovely spicy, leathery, oaky nose. On the palate, red cherries, oak, earth, coffee, mineral, tannins, tobacco, faint tannins and a clean finish. Excellent wine!

What a difference 2 years make. So much more developed and delicious now with tannins mellowed down, good black snd red fruit snd secondary characteristics developed. 94 pts now, improvement from 92 pts previously.
A long time ago, at a wine bistro in Paris, we had an off-vintage of La Dominique, that the proprietor described as "tout en delicatesse, comme une feuille qui tombe" (all about delicacy, like a leaf that is falling). In this vintage, the wine is more like a boulder that is falling: lots of weight, lots of tannin, lots of acidity, lots of extraction, lots of dark fruits (plum and blackberry), lots of chocolate. It's already fun to drink -- my wife, who guessed that it was a super-Tuscan, loved it -- but it's only at the very beginning of its drinkability, and will almost certainly last longer than I will. We are already thinking that in about three years, it will be the perfect wine for Christmas dinner.
Arômes floraux et de fruits rouges mûrs. Souple, ample avec des tannins fins...structuré. Saveurs de fruits frais et d'épices. Longue finale...soupçon d'épices. Au début de son apogée...meilleur d'ici 2 à 5 ans.

Hitting way above it's station. Big, bold and delicious. Fabulous PQR.
Ready to go but much life left.
