Decanted and poured. Even ruby. Medium body. Herbal and fennel scents, cedar, and quite tart red fruit to begin with. As it opened, the green notes receded and more smoky black cherry emerged. Very mineral at its core with a punchy tannic finish. This probably needs another 5 years to more fully relax. The quality and potential become more clear with air, but this is not very pleasurable tonight right out of the bottle.

Was quite tart at opening, so I decided to decant it 3 hours before dinner and it still improved in the glass. On the nose ethereal (more tar than roses) and dark fruit, on the palate a load of smooth tannin and medium to high acidity, good mouthfeel and long finish. Great showing and as classic as Rioja can be, drink now or till 2040.
From 375ml, was sitting all dinner and thinking wow is the 2011 drinking like this all of a sudden. I have to buy more. The day after I realised I had opened a 2010. A couple of points ahead of the 2011 and an amazing QPR-wine. So vibrant, silky, and simply delicious. This is wonderful now and will be wonderful for many, many years to come. Decant for 2 hours.
1 hour decant. Mid-red with a hint of a fading rim. Delightful nose with notes of cherries, dark berries, tobacco and just a hint of cedar wood. Blackberries and cherries on the palate, supported by fine grained tannins and undertows of tobacco notes. Sweet long finish. Lovely wine.

Agree that this needs at least an hour or two of decant. Will also definitely improve with age and is still early in its drinking window. Good QPR.
