5/10/2024 - wongstonn Likes this wine: 91 pointsPoured from Coravin with aerator. Clear medium garnet. Medium + aromtic intensity. Showed a lot of aromatic evolution in the 20 minutes after pouring, but enticing at all stages. The black cherry and tar remains a constant throughout. Initial early additional elements of pot pourri, vanilla, blackberry and clove give way over time to enticing fresh minty and black pepper notes. On the palate more emphasis on the pepper and tar. Enjoyable. Alcohol medium, acidity medium Shorter finish than I'd like. Ready to drink. Not sure where it will go if left longer as I worry about the relatively short finish. |

4/26/2024 - JonnyG Likes this wine: 93 pointsUnder screw cap. In far better shape that another bottle of this I opened some years ago, which was advanced. In fact, if I were scoring off of the nose alone, which was extraordinary, it would merit something in the very high nineties, with evident reduction expressed as sulfur and tire rubber, alongside loads of rich, ripe tropical notes and some lemon and spice. The fruit was equally ample on the palate, as was some oak spice, but the wine finished with enough phenolic bitterness that I found it distracting. Still, a very fine showing. |

From memory the impression was pretty much the same now as the first time. The wine is a bit muddy or cloudy so something isn't quite right. Could be the coravin degraded or prematurely advanced to irrecognition this time. Tastes like a burgundy with some age, very confusing. Unfair note so disregard. |

4/17/2024 - crazywineguy Likes this wine: 90 pointsWell found a stray bottle down the back of the sofa in the wine cellar (sort of). Deep golden. Nose still full of fruit but golden burnt gardenia notes. Full body. Finish starting to shorten up (fair enough at 16 years of age for a roussanne). Always a rich chicken dish wine given its huge structure. Just lacks a touch of finesse or polish to go to the heights. |

4/6/2024 - VincentMorey wrote: NRShared by someone at dinner. Screw cap, had no idea this was an iconic Chardonnay nor its current exorbitant market value. Not my style but I can appreciate why some really enjoy it. Lots of intense smokey ash or some might say burnt matchstick. The fruit is in the background, so I recommend a decant. The malo and oak are quite interesting... definitely not California run of the mill Chardonnay. Nice mouth feel, and a light medley of tropical and some mild stone fruit with some lemon and minerals. The finish is fairly dry and savory. Definitely not Chablis like as some may have alluded to. A just ok match with food (from a mushroom flatbread / pizza style to fried zucchini blossoms stuffed with mozzarella). The matchstick aromas fade over time, and the wine becomes less complex. Suggest holding them longer and a splash decant at a minimum. Perhaps ok at $100 but if really $300, I'd rather have white Burg... |

3/24/2024 - Sonoffalstaff Likes this wine: 92 pointsI normally go nuts for this wine but not on this occasion. Still v good and there are plenty of notes below describing what you might hope to find but this one lacked the sheer World Beater status that previous vintages had. Has it gone past it best..or have I? |

3/17/2024 - Teknsteel Likes this wine: 94 pointsLovely bouquet. Carries over to the palate. My 5th bottle. Bought on three different occasions. This last bottle had a clear eucalyptus note. Giaconda is a great producer. The shiraz is very good too. But the 19 estate pinot is my idea of a hallmark pinot. With an address. Beechworth rocks. |

In the mouth it's got medium plus intensity acidity, more herbaceous notes, a touch of blackcurrant that proves quite sour, grippy drying tannins feel grape derived but have a little green hardness. 10/5/2020 - rikipedia Likes this wine: 89 pointsTerroir-istes International - Australia-Victoria, Upper Yarra, Beechworth, Macedon Chardonnay (Bishopscourt): (Tasted Blind): A mid-gold colour suggests some age heads towards a bouquet of yellow fruits, oatmeal, fynbos honey, nougat and orange blossom. A mint quality hangs overhead! The full-bodied entry is marked by an invigorating, persistent acidity, excellent precision and depth. Rich with notes of orange segments and touch of mineral. With layers of flavour and a reassuring gait, the wine begins to dry out on the finish yet still holds relatively well for its age. |
