Dark red with clear edges. Medium intense nose, green pepper, thyme, dark chocolate and plums. Very concentrated dry dark fruit and dark chocolate flavours and a very high acid almost shrill finish.

Zero ullage. Took a glass out using Coravin. Dark centre with brick light red rim. Classic leafy cassis nose with hints of light menthol, eucalypt and boot polish. In perfect shape, a great surviving bottle/cork with a smooth very much alive palate. Drying tannins at the close with a real lick of blackberry. Filling out as decanted. Got to heap praise on an Aussie red that reaches the quarter century mark in perfect shape. Bravo!

Touch menthol on opening but this reduced. Deep blackcurrant nose. Pretty deep colour too. A little thin / hollow to start and rather a spiky sort of mid-palate. Drying tannins on the finish. This definitely improved with air and was at its best after around 2 hours when the spikiness had gone and the over-dry finish settled down. A decent drop if not terribly exciting. Holding up well, but do give it a decant.
