Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group: Crisscross (Private Location): I’m not super familiar with the Doctor bottlings but normally they really need time to fully come around. This Auslese from a rather warm vintage delivers lots of ripe apricot, ripe yellow fruit also some caramel, smoke, spices and earthy notes. Very, very deep and special perfume. You also feel the ripeness on the palate but the lively acidity buffers it nicely. Good punch on the mid palate. It still has some phenolic notes in the finish. A very unique experience for me. No hurry here.

Asperg Wine Syndrome Tasting Group (@Private location): Glass: Riedel Vinum Riesling Clear, medium golden-amber color. Clean, medium intense, developing nose. Delicate yellow and white fruit, a bit caramel, smoke, speck, some petrol. Rather closed, very fine. Medium-sweet, perfectly balanced by the ripe, medium+ acidity. Medium- body. On the palate delicate ripe fruit, apricot, herbs, phenols, fine mineral notes, some caramel, Marzipan. Long, lingering finish. Vibrant acidity, lean, elegant, rather cool, juicy, resting in itself. Potential for at least 10+ years. 93++
