Berry bouquet. Velvety, berry ripe fruit flavor. The finish is so ripe it borders on sweet. Has held up remarkably well. At 20 years of age it shows no signs of decline.

i understand that this wine is too big for some. It is huge. Big dark fruit, lots of alcohol. a hammer of a wine. Still there was enough substance there that it still drank well. Sweet on the palate, but not cloying. a good substitute for port, beer, or amarone. Still drinking very well. No problem holding a few more years, but no reason too.

I've been down on the Martinelli zin flavors for the last couple of years and opened this with hesitation. Surprisingly good, but certainly extreme. First flavor was hot alcohol, but after a few minutes of breathing nice plumby flavors balanced. Good drinking but don't wait any longer.

Corked. I doubt many from this vintage have survived.
