Deep purple color-no brick. Still full bodied on the palate. Plum, Licorice, and coffee on the nose and palate with some smoke on the finish. I was pleasantly surprised how good it was as it is way past it's projected drinking interval.

PNP. cork perfect. This was amazing last night. I am not into big and brawny anymore, but somehow this manages to hide the alcohol and the acid keeps the dense fruit from being flabby. holding zin for 22 yrs was a bit of Russian river roulette (pun intended), but properly stored this still has life ahead. the fireworks might have been canceled but they happened in my backyard with this bottle. special
4th Saturday Brown Bagger (R&D's): Shows a little bricking. Notes of candied apple; tart and citrusy. Red fruit on the palate with quite a bit of acid too. After the flight was poured, on a quick first pass through checking for TCA, I this smelled like a Pinot to me. I kept going back and forth between an old Zin with the candied fruit and an older Pinot on account of the acidity.

My last bottle of 1998 Martinelli Jackass. Lovely nose of soft, no heat here, dark cherry fruit and blackberry with hints of earth, and ink, more of the same on the palate, rich and delicious for 15 years old. Lovely medium finish and fruity aftertaste. Drink up.

Time for Zinfandel which means Martinelli Jackass to me. I opened this wine to go with BBQ Bratwurst with red peppers. Lovely nose of soft, no heat here, dark cherry fruit with hints of earth, ink and allspice, more of the same on the palate, rather a surprise due to its age of 15 years. Lovely medium finish and fruity aftertaste made you want another glass. Glad I have one bottle left in the cellar to enjoy another day.
