  • Nothing to add to my last note. The master when it comes to Brunello.

  • Decanted for 3hrs.
    Deep garnet with some bricking.
Intense, powerful nose. Cherry liqueur, earth, tea.
Full body, high acidity, still very tannic, red cherries rather than black, spicy, green bell pepper, Liquorice. Feels still young and aggressive, would need few more years to mellow down.
    Excellent length.
    Wait 5yrs for next bottle.

  • Online Blind Tasting #7: 1997 Horizontal: Note is based on a tasting sip in the morning on day one, ~4cl on the evening and 0,1l filled in a bottle and sealed with argon gas on the evening of day three.
    Glass: Riedel Sommelier Bordeaux
Clear, deep tawny color with brown edges. Clean, medium+ intense, fully developed nose. Fine tobacco, some lovage, soil, fine oak.
Dry, extreme acidity, but very well integrated that gives this wine a wonderful freshness and presence! 13,5% abv, High, silky and mellow tannin.
Palate is very dense and deep. All flavours are interwoven, very tertiary driven aromas, but still quite fresh and juicy. Fine red fruit, dried petals and blossoms, soil, fine oak. Very round, elegant and balanced. Long, juicy finish with a great grip from the high tannin. Probably a bit past peak, but still very joyful. 93

  • First bottle from a recent auction purchase. Pop and pour. Cork came out in one piece. Maroon color that got lighter at the edges. Nose had a delicate and dusty notes of dried red fruit, dried herbs, and old leather baseball glove. Dried strawberries on the palate with acidity to keep things fresh. Remarkably different from the '99 Riserva I had last year. The '99 seemed like it needed several more years for it to come together. An excellent bottle but not a knock-your-socks-off experience.

  • Complex nose of cigar box, tar, dark cherry, leather, roses. Wonderful ruby red colour, soft tannins, fresh acidity. Delicate and feminine.
Wine of the night by far! Amazing class!
