Deep, full old gold, almost a touch of amber creeping in. Surprisingly good stream of bubbles and a sprite ly mousse. Fully mature but still vibrant and vital. Ginger spice, rich, almost meaty. Good weight. Positive finish. Some oxidative hints as one would expect but far from being oxidised. Possibly not everyone’s cup of tea, but this is lovely. ****1/2

Remarkably, this bottle still had some fine bubbles. Glorious rich nose with all the decadence and complexity of quality aged champagne. Just the merest drying of the fruit creeping in.

Houston Northern Rhone Blowout: Second time to try the wine this year and my impression is consistent with the first. Fully mature with butter, scotch and orchard fruit. Good bottles are on a plateau but I don’t think it has a ton to gain from here.

This bottle was over the hill. Slightly oxidized.
