Deeply pigmented, nearly purple still. Wild nose of currant, fresh berries, American oak, smells like Monte Bello. Lovely, cedary, mint, mineral-driven palate with long, fine tannin. Very young, muscular, incisive Cabernet. This particular bottle is probably still a decade away from true maturity. So much power here.

Found this in a retail shop in Oregon and went for it. Popped and poured. Garnet with lightening at the edges. After 30 minutes the nose was fully open, expressing cassis, red currant, stone, mountain flowers, and a hint of cedar. Remarkably fresh and insistent on the palate with gobs of sweet, pure red currant fruit laced with plum and austere schist notes - the combination on the tongue was fantastic. Still bright with acidity, balancing moderated tannin. Long, lovely finish yielding waves of red fruit, stone, and exquisite grip at the end. A real treasure, tasted in what seems to be its prime.

Simply amazing. Better than 1984 Monte Bello. Still so youthful
