initially, this did not impress, but as it evolved in the glass with time, it moved into a more pleasing state offering some nice red fruit amidst some cinnamon spice and cola.

High tone does smell like the ocean with salt and minerals..pleasantly balanced with the luscious read berry fruit plus some aggressive tannins. Medium to light in the mouth..intense flavors with a saltiness that adds complexity. Extended finish on the tannic note, the fruit fades a bit rough at the end-needs a few years in the bottle.

Popped and poured. Medium-plus purple/ruby hue. Nose of raspberry, cherry, cola, florals, root vegetables, incense, and a subtle spice note. Medium-body, elegant. On the palate, the fruit is certainly all California, with a touch of sweetness but paradoxically comes off as crunchy, with raspberry and strawberry notes leading the way. A touch of the herbaceous adds complexity along with hints of ground clove. A refrained, stylish Pinot with supple tannins on the moderate close. Drinking nicely with a bit of air right now, this should be drinking at its best in 2-3 years.
