I have had control of this bottle in two of my own cellarssince I bought it in Washington DC in the mi-to-late 1970s.
The Vivino database could notidentify an extra name on the label, “L. Charmolũe” But I have more of the same designation in the cellar at Bubastis House.
On separate occasions, I drank two bottles of this wine during January, 2024. My rating would be the same for both.

The 1964 Chateau Montrose was not showing its age at all, presenting itself with a deep and dark ruby appearance. The nose was shy, slightly green with only subtle hints of fruit. A tannic and almost disjointed palate made you wonder if this wine could have benefitted from more decanting. Regardless, this was a solid bottle!

The Night I Gave Out My First Perfect Score(s) (Santa Monica, CA): A stunning performance, far exceeding expectations. Candied red fruit accented by a bit of orange oil. Very precise, almost seamless. The palate is medium-bodied, somewhat feminine (by which I tend to mean somewhat floral and nuanced rather than dense and powerful), but still intense in flavor and texture, with lovely balance. Some chemical notes (iodine?) on the finish did distract a bit.

Acker April 2019 (Marea in NYC): Very fruity and fresh and yet still has all of the other aged flavors like shoe polish and more oily notes. Coming around to this Chateau which seems to have wine that can really hold up to the aging. Very tasty.

Happily a good bottle. Pretty dark, bright red, no bricking. Fully integrated nose, still a little fruit, spices. Taste in complete harmony with the smell. Still life there, it kept it up in the glass. Old bdx as it should be. Perhaps not the most profound wine, but a joy to drink.
