  13%. Limpid dark red core, purple rim. Double decanted. More swirling in glass brings out lifted mulberry, plum, roasted green pepper, mint, thyme, ripe tamarind, pencil lead. Firmly structured: lemony tart red cherry acidity over slightly softened tannins. 15+ sec finish. Perfect lunch claret.

  Showing some development with leather and tobacco aromas wrapped around a core of blackcurrant and fine spices. Poised and fresh on the smoky palate. Finishes long. Drink now or hold.

  From a 750ml purchased on the secondary during a progressive sale. On the nose, this was showing a touch of age in a cedary, red-over-black-fruit-Christmas-cake-cabernet kind of way. On the palate, it was a burly, tannic bruiser with impressive concentration and balance. Again, very cab driven but more primary here. Over all, it was, perhaps, a bit one dimensional… But what a great dimension it was! My only other 2011 to date was an exceptional Pichon Lalande, which was for right now, judging by my bottles, the better of the two wines. 13% ABV (great/****/17/93)
