  • Medium yellow with a hint of green. Minerality, salinity, apple, ?lime? and some just ripe white peach on the nose which largely follow through to the palate. The acidity is high but not searing and there’s a little residual sugar giving the wine a full mouthfeel and a medium plus finish.
I got this wine as part of a mixed case, I enjoyed it and am very happy I tried it although, given the price, I wouldn’t go out of my way to buy it again.

  • Restaurant purchase. Clean and fresh w the slightest bit of RS to help mask the considerable underlying acidity. I am a new fan

  • i wasn't really sure what to expect from this one. bought it on impulse after seeing it on a shelf in looking around for some gruners to try to follow along on the NYT monthly column just for grins. slight medicinal nose with a a bit of honey and residual sugar at the start, a little sweeter than i expected (v. say a mid-dry riesling), but not offensively so. Got a nice surprise after about an hour or so when it started to open up to some refreshing acidity and minerality that didn't tire the palate out. Still good on day 2. A pleasant surprise and a nice drinkable wine.

  • A bit of spritz, which disapated quickly. Medium bodied with a palate of slightly sour yellow fruits and good acidity. There's a bit of salinity, which adds enjoyment. 13% abv. I get the sense that this will improve with age.

  • The Other 7% of California (Chicago, IL): I quite liked this. Mind you, at this price level, I will always buy Mosel Kabinett, but it was certainly interesting to try something else. This seems to have a slight touch of residual sugar on the palate, which gives it a lovely rounded quality. On top of that is the Grün of the veltliner: a touch of light herbal grassiness. Pretty light in stature, but reasonably tasty and well-balanced.
