Gets more impressive with age. The kind of gruner that perplexes the mind in the sort of way that fine white burgundy does. Flattened complexity not at all burdened by its original simple fruit characteristics. Fine white flowers with a crisp unsalted butter background.

A private lunch (Restaurant Eleven Madison Park ***, New York City, NY, USA): From Santa Barbara County, 13.5% ABV, 420 cases produced. Excellent varietal typicity on the nose, white pepper, ripe pear and lemon fruit, hint of salinity, alyssum lift, good depth; the juicy palate is on the softer side, rounded and easy; a bit fuzzy on the finish, good length. Quite attractive but lacks line and zing compared to a good Federspiel.

Clear and lite in the glass. Nose of citrus blossom, pear, pineapple, melon and sea mist. Lite body with glossy citrus fruit, almond, pear, green apple, stone fruit, pith and silicate on the palate. Balanced and elegant with clean acidity. Superb with food. Med-short finish. Became sappy above proper Grüner temps.

Nutty, savory flavors, plus apple/pear and citrus fruit. I really liked this and it's certainly a great value for the money. I've had some of Tatomer's Rieslings and they've always delivered, but this is my first time trying their Gruner. In fact, this may be the first domestic Gruner I've ever head.
