A super Tapestry. So odd to look back at CT notes from @10 years ago and read notes about bottles being past-prime or gone or at end of life. Perhaps those were off or poorly stored bottles, or maybe the wine was closed? In any case, this 1999 Tapestry, which was one of two I recently picked up at auction, was excellent. Full bodied; no bricking; gorgeous sweet dark fruit nose. And, it was both delicious and concentrated on the palate. Opened on a Friday and then put in fridge after having a glass; today -Monday - it is even better. No decline. Bravo BV!

13.5% alcohol; the cork had dried out and broken off in the middle but I was able to get it out using a straight corkscrew with a handle, with a resounding pop indicating the seal was still intact; aroma from the cork was a whiff of vanilla accompanied by a trace of New Zealand Manuca honey, wine penetration up to 1 cm; the label identifies its Beaulieu Reserve Tapestry wine as 'a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Petite Verdot and Cabernet Franc from outstanding Napa Valley vineyards', meaning, I hope, that the Vineyard really has taken extra care in its Napa grape selection; long legs, a very dark ruby red color; opened, vinturied, and tasted about 30 minutes later at room temperature (24 degrees C); nose of sweet/sour cherries, some vegetables like carrots and beets, with the same vanilla/Manuka honey combination I noticed in the cork; full bodied with a sharp, deep-state dark berry and stone fruit combination, an intriguing mixture of fruitiness, sourness, and sweetness, even a little table salt; extended cellaring has done nothing bad to this wine; far from being over the hill, it hasn't reached the top yet; medium to long finish; pair with grill roasted beef, or bison, steak

Green, astringent, still tannic. Not sweet, sour cherry.

What it lacks in depth and complexity it makes up for with balance and harmony. A soft old lady of a wine, perfect for dining and sipping.
