Opened, decanted for 1 hour. The wine has passed it good drinking window. Still a good aroma, some tannins but a little off. It won’t keep much longer.

Every few years I check in with a local (California) wine, usually to my disappointment. Not so here! I hate to say it, but this is very nice juice. Yes, it is fruit forward, somewhat jammy, and redolent with new oak but there is no denying the hedonistic pleasure factor here. Who doesn't love chocolate and vanilla?! This is clearly made from very nice fruit and done so with care. While not exactly my style, with a brisket I've been smoking all day I think this will be fire.
With time, this does get sweeter and sweeter and is verging on cloying.

Four years after the prior: On opening, and for the first night, this was a monolithic brute. 14.8, and unfortunately, it shows. On the second and third nights, we paired it with barbecue — it became tolerable, and a few sips were even enjoyable when it showed at least a bit of dusty character. But this type of monster wine, with no trace of elegance, is no longer a style that pleases us.

Softened up but not flabby. Fairly linear now but great velvet texture. Darker Berry, sour cherry with graphite/pencil lead and tobacco
