Wow! Rich, complex nose. Surprising amount of tannin left. Fruit showing underneath but not particularly strong. Smoke and leather in the nose. This is what an old Bordeaux ought to be.

Dinner at Le Tertre. A real treat and my first 1947 Bordeaux. This was ready to go immediately with bright red fruit, iodine, wet bandaids, dark fruit. Great texture with so many nuances I couldn't keep up. A really nice sweetness from about 5minutes to 40minutes. This did start to fade, seem more oxidized after about 45minutes. The restaurant decanted it, which probably was a mistake. A great experience nonetheless.
