  • Cork splintered when opening, couldn't save it, and eventually had to push it into the bottle and remove during decant. Nice strong pleasing aromas full of vanilla and cassis. Typical palate that's full with a touch of acid on the finish. Unfortunately, this bottle had a sour element that was distracting. Finished the whole bottle, but I've preferred my other bottles that were drank recently.

  • Integrating well! Growing to really love aged Oz Shiraz's and combo's. This is 53% Shrz, 47%Grnche. Still has 2-3 years left!

  • ruby garnet in glass, with just the slightest hint of tawny rim. Dark effusive nose of plums and blackberries, earth, eucalypt, UHU glue and ethylene sweetness. Some classy smoke and graphite. Restrained, savoury palate, smokey and dusty. Certainly meaty. Secondary characters abound, while still beautiful dark fruits holding tall, with silky tannins. This wine has kept well! Hints of juicy milk chocolate on the finish, with some interesting green stems. Classic mature Mclaren Shirarz/Grenache. Classy stuff!

  • Slightly brown on the edges, but still very dark and dense colour. Peppermint and eucalyptus on the nose. Opens up nicely in the glass to reveal a very smooth and fully mature wine. Excellent value for money. Too bad this was my last bottle (of this vintage).
