Slightly depressed wine-soaked cork with some mold on top. Wine seemed to be in pretty good shape though. But definitely felt past its prime. Thin with little tannins left. Dusty and dry with some hints of soy and not much fruit left. I have one more and I'll probably drink soon as this is past its drinking window I fear.

This bottle was long in the tooth, but also suffered from a severely depressed cork and some seepage. Probably not a fair one to judge--will try another soon!

A vintage rated as very good by Broadbent and unfairly overlooked after the great 61. A bottle for my 62nd birthday. Had tasted a Bordeaux bottled one in 93 which was odd and medicinal. This bottle Chateau bottled with excellent label and mid shoulder level. I would not normally buy with a level this low. Cork came out in one piece much to my surprise. Colour of light brick. Complex nose of Cola, mushroom, tobacco and farmyard. Later anise. Smooth on the palate and still with plenty of very soft tannins. Finish shorter than it would once have been. Well past it's best even for a lover of old claret but still an interesting and enjoyable drink.

Wow, a great surprise. Mature, but with some really good years yet ahead. Shows avg. age/bricking, but fruits/acids/tannins are in remarkably good shape here - more so considering 62 (as I know it) was good, but short of very good. That said, this offered remarkable complexity and finesse and is still quite fit for a festive dinner. Earth, some graphite, plenty of dead/decaying leaves, a hundred different kinds of mushrooms, and floral/spice notes the frame the package beautifully. A real treat. recommended
Served non-blind; double-decanted for sediment one hour prior to service, this was allowed to breathe for approximately 1 hr - only got better as it was open.
