Friday Night Double Blind Tasting $40+ (Bin 75 Alpharetta, GA): Super extracted core, chocolate to thin duller violet rim; American oak, dense, chocolaty dark fruit, vanilla bean, espresso, glycerin, big and rich, boysenberry, very ripe, grainy tannin, menthol, eucalyptus, full and compact, clove spice and its numbing quality, loamy soil, powerful alcohol; not for me, too in your face; was on Syrah initially but was too intense; called '08 Leonetti Cab.

This "Rhone Blend" was pretty tight and not overly forgiving, even after several hours of air. I could tell there was some goodness beneath the still powerful tannins, but it was hard to get to its other characteristics with them present. Overall, I believe this is a good wine, but it is just in a weird spot for now. I will try another bottle soon to see if it was an off bottle or just needs time.

Drinking better right out of the bottle. This bottle is right in its drinking window. My previous bottle must have been an off bottle.

See my notes from 29 June 2017. Very nice Bordeaux blend from WA.

Deep, dark earthy with wet leaves and tobacco on the nose. Mouthwatering, rich and complex, black fruit with just a hint of pepper.
